Mask Patterns
There are many designs out there for making loose fitting, improvised masks, but here we will try and focus on tight fitting mask patterns. A good mask is form fitting, often with a nose wire and elastic to form a tight seal. Recent studies suggest adding a nylon pantyhose layer to a mask will make it work better, by creating a tighter seal between the mask and the wearer's face.
These mask patterns have not been independently tested for fit and filtration. We will try and update this page often with better information when available.
Rag Mask: Optimizing for speed of construction / low skill necessary / material availability / "good enough" effectiveness. Current design is square-cuts-only, requires no pinning or pressing, and can be made in only a few minutes per mask if done in batches.
